Here
we are at the start of another season, and looking forward to seeing
some good games played at Monbulk once again. At this time of the year
every one is very busy in preparing the teams and the facilities for the
start of the season. Apart from the preseason training there are lots of
other things that have to be done such as, VSF registrations,
insurances, player’s kits, First aid equipment, pitch preparation,
working bees etc. Not forgetting the most important one, contacting our
sponsors, without whose help the young people of Monbulk would not be
able to participate.
I
would like to take this opportunity to bring you up to date with what is
happening with our major project, the construction of our new change
rooms. The planning permit has been approved, & the construction
drawings have been completed, & submitted to the council for a
building permit, which we are expecting to be approved any day now. The
club has engaged the council to act as building surveyor, & the
project has been put out to tender to four builders who have good track
records in this type of construction. Part of the clubs contribution to
the cost of construction will be met by work done by volunteers, partly
in labor, & partly by sponsorship contributions. The club is
currently discussing this with one of the builders, with the view to a
clearly defined contract spelling out the work which must be done &
the time schedule in which the work must be completed. The club’s
treasurer Jim Bras & I have had several meeting with the council,
& so far the preparations to start the project are going well. When
we have clearly defined the work to be done by the club’s volunteers,
& or sponsors, we will then approach you to get your final
commitment to the project. I will be coordinating the voluntary work to
be done under the builders direction, which will be discuss between the
volunteers or sponsors with the builder before the construction contract
is signed. At present we are hoping to start construction in April
however there is still a lot to be done before we can start.
